• Product pages - parent should select their baby's age from the green heading on the right. This will show them the appropriate size and will display the teats in that range with details to assist in selecting the appropriate flow rate.

Thickened feed teats have a dual purpose. Essentially the teat hole is a little larger to accommodate thickener that has been added to liquid. This larger hole will allow the thickened fluid to still flow well.

However, if the parent has a baby who is a strong feeder, this teat can also be used without thickener and it will provide a faster flow for their baby.

A baby will give all sorts of little signs when feeding. Helping a parent understand those signs will help when choosing the right flow rate. We have listed some common signs but always refer parent to their health professional if unsure.

Signs that the flow right might be TOO FAST for baby:

• Coughs & chokes on milk
• Milk spillage from the corners of babies mouth
• Pushes bottle away and refuses to feed

Signs that the flow rate is JUST RIGHT for baby:

• Milk being swallowed with little escaping
• No choking or spluttering
• Baby finishes the whole bottle quickly (approx. 15-30 mins being mindful that younger babies or babies with specific needs may take longer)

Signs that the flow rate might be TOO SLOW for baby:

• Losing interest in feed
• Taking longer to feed than baby's normal or falling asleep before finishing the bottle
• Showing signs of frustration or impatience when feeding

The correct way to use the teat is to align the size symbol directly under the babies nose, facing upwards. This ensures the teat is correctly placed to complement the shape of babies mouth, ensure good attachment and efficient vacuum to draw milk.

Reduced flow teats are the best option. The slower flow rate (smaller teat hole) better matches the same rate as breastfeeding.

Ensure the parent knows to use the White Cap when mixing formula in the bottle, not the clear Teat Covers.

The clear Teat Covers are not leakproof as this is a universal size to cover all sizes of teats. If you shake with the teat and teat cover attached, pressure will build with the shaking and then stream out fast after release and raise concern that there is an issue with the teat when there is not.

We manufacture the teats around a pin, so the teat hole is moulded open and will not close over.

The teat holes are small so tiny specs of material, dried milk or formula for example, can get stuck and appear as though the teat is blocked. Make sure the parent is cleaning with a good teat brush and ensure bristles go through the teat hole so it has a thorough clean.

After cleaning, if parent wants to check tell them to fill the teat with water, and squeeze the teat. Water should stream out. If it doesn't stream out when they pinch the teat, then there could be another issue and please tell them to contact us directly.

Yes, the exact same. They are made in the same cleanroom with the same machines as those used in hospitals.

No they should not be boiled. Direct heat can adversely affect the shape of the teat. This is advised in the care & use instructions that come with all teats.

Sterilise it again but ensure it's not touching anything or its freestanding, and it should regain it's shape.

Sepal teats will typically last 6 - 8 weeks with normal use, when using 6 -8 teats per baby.

Approx 6 months is the suggested time that bottles should be comfortably used for, however if they are still in good condition with no sign of damage, they can be used longer.

Yes - they have been specifically designed to work together to create the required seal for the patented controlled venting, eliminating issues with fluctuating flow rates, free flowing or leaking collars.

They will fit on other narrow neck bottles however hospitals have reported inconsistent flow rate issues when using bottles other than Sepal.
