Are you satisfied with the feeding products you can offer infants in your care?

Do you feel frustrated by products with inconsistent flow rates?

Having trouble finding the right solution to support infants with their changing feeding needs?

Let the Sepal range help you address these challenges……

Developed in collaboration with Speech Pathologists, Nursing Staff and Dieticians, the Sepal range of bottles and teats provide a simple to assemble, reliable and consistent product that has size and flow rate options to meet almost any feeding need.

1. How old is the infant that you are supporting?

Choose an appropriate size to suit the infant’s age/weight. Size is shown by the letter on the teat collar.

2. What are the infant’s feeding needs based on your assessment?

Select an appropriate flow rate to manage risks and support a positive feeding experience. The flow rate is highlighted in the colour of the teat collar.

Here at Sepal, we offer 12 different variants across the range. Follow our simple pathways to select which teats in the range are suitable for the infants in your care.

General Use - Reduced Feed - Thickened Feed

For some infants, the General Use teat will be a simple selection to support optimal feeding.

However, if an infant requires support, like pacing and positioning to slow the feed, then selecting a Reduced Feed teat will give them more time to coordinate swallowing the liquid whilst safely managing their respiration.

Conversely, if an infant requires the addition of products to thicken their feed, you can select a teat with a larger orifice to enable thicker liquid to flow, selecting from the Thickened Feed options.

Preterm infants, in particular those weighing under 2.5 kg, are advised to start with an Extra Small Teat.

This Extra Small teat size is comfortable in a tiny mouth and offers the universal benefits of the Sepal contours.

If your assessment has identified no swallowing difficulties, then the General Use Extra Small teat Extra Slow Flow is your suggested starting point.

If however there are clinical issues to manage and monitor, there is the option of a reduced flow rate in our Ultra Slow Flow or two faster flow rate options at either Slow Flow or Medium Flow.

Full term infants are advised to start with a Small Teat unless they are exhibiting signs of a strong gag reflex.  If this is the case, select an Extra Small Teat (the smaller size has less impact on this reflex) in the Slow Flow so that it caters to their hunger demands.

This small teat size is comfortable in a newborn’s mouth and offers the universal benefits of the Sepal contours.  If your assessment has identified no swallowing difficulties, then the General Use Small Teat Slow Flow is your suggested starting point.  If, however there are clinical issues to manage and monitor, there is the option of a reduced flow rate in our Extra Slow Flow or a faster flow rate option of Medium Flow.

As infants grow, we advise that they transition to a larger teat to ensure that the universal benefits of the Sepal contours are experienced.  At 4-5 months they should be ready for the Medium Teat unless they are exhibiting signs of a strong gag reflex.  If this is the case, select a Small Teat (the smaller size has less impact on this reflex) in the Medium Flow so that it caters to their hunger demands.

If your assessment has identified no swallowing difficulties, then the General Use Medium Teat Medium Flow is your suggested starting point.  If, however there are clinical issues to manage and monitor, there is the option of a reduced flow rate in our Slow Flow or a faster flow rate option of Fast Flow.

As infants grow further, we advise they make the final transition to the Large Teat unless they are exhibiting signs of a strong gag reflex.  If this is the case, select a Medium Teat (the smaller size has less impact on this reflex) in the Fast Flow so that it caters to their hunger demands.

This is our largest teat size and continues to offer the universal benefits of the Sepal contours.  If your assessment has identified no swallowing difficulties, then the General Use Large Teat Fast Flow is your suggested starting point.  If, however there are clinical issues to manage and monitor, there is the option of a reduced flow rate in our Medium Flow.
